Skittles night helps boost charity cash.

It was more than skittles which were bowled over at a recent charity fundraiser organised by an Aldridge charity.

Trustees of Aldridge Manor House Youth and Community Association presented a 33,261 cheque to Karen and Sean Ross, founders of the local charity Rosies Helping Hands.

The community and youth association was a registered charity which closed in December 2006,and their substantial donation was the amount  of surplus funds on closure.

Karen said "It was a very sad day when Aldridge Manor House Association closed. It had served the community so well for many years, generations of young people have fond memories of the weekly youth club held there.

2It s a great privilege to have been chosen as the charity to receive this money and we shall ensure the young people of Aldridge benefit from this very generous donation.

The skittles evening was great fun and thank you to those people who gave their support and raised £300.

Claims church's club is too loud.

A church - owned  social club in a leafy village in Aldridge could be stripped of its licence, following floods of complaints from neighbourhours who claim it has turned into a rowdy drinking den.

The Friary Club,in Whetstone Lane,Aldridge will have its licence reviewed following a catalogue of complaints from people living near by.

It is located next to St Mary of the Angels Church in Whetstone Lane and was originally a head quarters for congregation members. After seperating from the church, the club is now privately run and is leased by bosses from the Diocese of Birmingham. But neighbours have complained the former retreat for worshippers is now like a pub. They have written to licensing chiefs at Walsall Council claiming the site opens the doors to revellers later than its current licence allows and that the terms of its members - only club licence have been breached because any body is allowed inside.

The review hearing will be held aon October 21st at Walsall Council House.
