Car Safety.
Please follow these simple guide lines to protect your car.
- Do not leave any items on display in your vehicle,particularly CD players and satellite navigation systems.
- Do not hide any items of value in your vehicle,particularly in the glove box as this is the first place a theif will look.
- If you have a satellite navigation system remove it as well as any cradle or holding device ,as leaving these items suggeststhe car is worth breaking in to.
- If you have a garage,park your car in it whenever possible.
- If you can,fit a gate or security post at the end of your drive to reduce the chance of your car being driven away.
Please remember when you leave your car remove
- Satellite navigation systems.
- Money and credit cards.
- Wallets,handbags and purses.
- CD player or fascia
- laptops
- mobile phones
- coats
- tools
- any thing else of value.

- Put away all tools and equipment.Ensure all outside shedsand storecupboardsare securely locked when not in use.
- Bring the tools inside if you do not have a shed or garage.
- Use suitable plants to enhance perimeter protection - such as thorny shrubs.
- Install outside security lighting,which comes on automatically at dusk.
- If you have a burglar alarm why not extend it to cover outbuildings and sheds.
- Photograph valuable garden plants and ornaments.
- Mark your property with your post code and house number - this makes stolen property easier to trace and it can be positively identified as yours.
- Check your household insurance policy covers theft from your garden and outbuildings.
- Regularly check fences and gates are in good repair and check for any over grown area where some one could hide.

Fly Tipping.
Fly tipping is considered to be a serious offence and can lead to prosecution.
Residents who witnessed fly tipping incidents should always report them to the council, this will increase the number of successful prosecutions.
People should dispose of their waste legally. As well as the normal kerb side collections,we have many recycling centres through out the borough, which householders can use to get rid of their waste.

Anger after thieves take mobility scooter.
(Son hits out at cruel and despicable act as widower loses his independance)
An 87 year old war vetran has lost his independence after thieves stole his mobility scooter worth£2,500 from outside his home.
Retired teacher Reg Snell from Aldridge has been left distraught after he discovered it missing on Tuesday morning.He had only owned the vehicle for two weeks and said it had become his life line.The great grandfather has made an emotional appeal for the culprits to hand it back saying he is now confined to his Walsall Road home.
Mr Snell ,a widower fought for his countr from 1940-1946 while a member of the Royal Engineers,serving in Italy and Egypt.
He has two sons,seven grand children and three great grand children.He worked as a teacher at Lindens Middle School in Streetly,retiring in 1986.
It really has upset him and he has lost hid independance now.I can walk about the house but I simply can't walk very far,and I rely on my scooter to go in to the village.I could not believe it when I got up on Tuesday and discovered it had been stolen.
His 62 year old son also called Reg added that his father has had to park the scooter outside his front door because of the distance from his garage to his house - its too far for him to walk.
Stealing a mobility scooter from an elderly disabled man is very cruel and despicable.My father has been left really upset by this event.
