* South Aldridge Neighbourhood Watch on Tuesday 4th March at the Friary Club,Whetstone Lane, Aldridge.Commencing at 19.00pm.

*Aldridge South and Streetly Community Action Group (CAG) on Tuesday 18th March 2008 at Aldridge Community Centre,Anchor Meadow,Middlemore Lane,Aldridge.

Free Meals at local pub.

A popular Aldridge pub has a brand new look following an extensive refurbishment.

To celebrate the re opening of the Whitehouse on Bosty Lane the venue is offering the first ten customers through its doors on April 15th a sizzling meal on the house.

Manager Diane Woods said "Following the pubs make over we wanted to to do something to celebrate our reopening and what better way than to treat the first ten customers. to a free meal.

Diners can feast on a range of meals including chicken,steak and gammon,traditional pub meals including fish and chips and dishes with an international twist including tandoori chicken.Vegetarians are also catered for and the pub also boasts an array of mouth watering deserts.

Residents who look after a friend or relative with an illness or disability will be able to find out more about applying for additional benefits at two advice surgeries.

Walsall Councils Welfare Rights Service will be holding the surgeries at Blakenall Village Centre,located in Thames Road,Blakenall on 15th April 2008 from 10.30am - 13.00pm and at Pelsall Library,in High Street,Pelsall on 28th April 2008 from 10.00am - noon.

Advice will also be given on local authority care charging and the blue badge parking scheme.

Tom is proud to have been re - selected as your conservative candidate.He as served the Aldridge Ward since 1987 working to improve Aldridge village.Tom has worked to maintain the character of Aldridge,and its precious green belt.His service to the elderly and young has been exempary.

Tom when invited as always attended our Residents meetings and given us his advice and full support.

Derek has lived in Aldridge since 1965,and as served as a magistrate at Aldridge Court for over 30 years and been a governor at one time or another of every school in Aldridge,also serving as Chairman of the management committee of Aldridge Manor House Youth Centre.Derek if elected will represent the interests of Aldridge people.

Aldridge Sailing Club.

Aldridge Sailing Club will hold a taster day for those wishing to try the sport.The event will take place on May 17th 2008 from 10.00am - 16.00pm at the club in arns Lane / Stubbers Green Aldridge.Visitors are invited to turn up on the day and need no specialist equipment.The event is free but for more information call Kate on 01922 - 860501.

Join in Ramble

Countryside officers are urging residents to dig out their walking books and join them on a ramble through the woodlands of Cookoos Nook and The Dingle.

Walkers are intvited to the Green Spaces in Aldridge, where they can learn about the flora, rocks, fossils, history, care and management of the area.

The walk is from 14:00pm-15.30pm on June 1st and it is free.

Choir Date.

The Aldridge branch of the Royal British Legion is to host an evening of song by the Shelfield Male Voice Choir at Aldridge Community Centre in Middlemore Lane,Aldridge on June 14th 2008.

Free breakfast offer to cyclists

People who swap four wheels for two and travel to work in Walsall on their bikes for the day will be treated to a free breakfast.

Walsall Council is offering the treat to any one who takes part in its Bike 2 Work Day on June 18th.

The event,being run as part of National Bike Week,is being held outside The New Art Gallery between 8.00am - 10.00am

Fayre returns to full strength.

The long awaited 14th annual Aldridge Fayre will be held at Anchor Meadow,Aldridge on Saturday 21st June 2008.

The show suffered a major set back last year as poor weather conditions forced the organisers to cancel the June event and hold a smaller show during August.

The event organised by Aldridge and District Lions Club,will see a packed programme of events throughout the day,with music from the 31st SC Scout band and the New Washboard Syncopators Jazz Band.

Areana demonstrations will include the Walsall Junior Coronets and the Jo Lei School of Dance.

Tai Chi demonstrations ,an appearance fron South Staffs Dog Training group and the Fire Service will also be held.

Side shows,refreshments and a fun fair will also feature at the event,as well as a car boot sale.

Reggatta at Aldridge Sailing Club

A charity sailing regatta is being held to raise funds for a Great Barr and former Aldridge School pupil Ryan Cockbill,who broke his neck after diving in to a pool.

Sailors from all over the West Midlands will take part in the event on June 28th 2008 at Aldridge Sailing Club.

The money raised will also be shared with Sneyd Sailability Group - a club for disabled youngsters who sail.

Great Wyrley Carnival on 28h June 2008.

Walsall Hospice will be supporting this event

 

Canal Festival to be held in Brownhills.

Brownhills local committee will be holding their annual canal festival on 29th June 2008.

The event will run from 10.00am - 16.00pm along the water front on Silver Street and the committee are calling for groups and organisations to support and participate with craft stalls and exhibitions.

Visiting boats are also welcome at the event,but will have to arrange for moorings.Music through out the day will be provided by the Shire Oak School Band,while water sports will be on going at the canoe Centre.

Walsall Hopice  Charity Golf Day.

Charity Golf Day - Caulderfields Golf Club.

The Walsall Hospice hopes to raise lots of money and are hoping to have 150 ,players paying £40 per head.,aso asking corporates to sponsor each 18th hole.We are having an evening an evening presentation and meal and a raffel also.

South Aldridge Neighbourhood Watch meeting on Tuesday 1st July 2008 at the Friary Club,Whetstone Lane,Aldridge at 19.00pm.

 

Aldridge Youth Theatre.Young actors from the group will be performing a double bill.Sinbad the Sailor and The Old Man of the Sea will be performed with a visit to Grease,a look at music from the iconic movie.The shows take place at their venue in Noddy Park Road,Aldridge on July 11th and 12th.
